Trapdoor Spiders

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Arachnida
Order: Araneae
Suborder: Mygalomorphae
Superfamily: Ctenizoidea
Family: Ctenizidae




Those spiders are very impressive, they construct burrows with a cork-like trapdoor made with soil, vegetation and silk, the trapdoor is difficult to see when it's closed because it's camouflage is very effective, the spider who is usually nocturnal, they wait for pray while holding on to the underside of the door, the pray is detected by vibrations and when it comes close enough the spider leaps out of its burrow to make the capture.

    I'm pseudo arachnofobic btw, just love the bigs tarantulas, but the small makes me run like a little girl ;-;
